Final Reflection

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/23685522/#editor I started by making the dragon interact with the apples using the color sensing commands. The dragon changes costumes when it receives the apples. In order to work through the problems I would constantly test it to see what works. If something didn't work I would put it in a different part of the project. I tested it by making sure the score went up when the dragon gets the apples. Once it reached a certain point the level changes to a new back drop. The process was very time consuming but you eventually are able to make everything work at the end.

Scratch Game

My game that I will create will be a dragon that collects apples and each time he get an apple you get a point and he breathes fire. The backdrop will change for each level. I had problems with the dragon not sensing the apples but I figured it out by clicking on the sprites to change the color. I have also had issues with transitioning the back drops.

An example of a variable would be the score or the time left in the game. You can plug these variables into the if then statement.

Sometimes you have to rearrange the blocks in a specific order to get it to work. Troubleshooting is your best option because by adding things you will eventually solve the problem.

My strategy was to use the if then command a lot and it worked. Number 5 was the most useful one I thought because I figured out how to use the if then command by putting a sensing block in the if then command.

To create a game you would have to use stage changes. They used backdrops to transition to different stages.

You would have to use timing when you have a conversation in your project so that it looks realistic. You would use broadcasting whenever there is dialogue in the project amongst people in your project.

Making A Block

It makes the project a lot easier when you add a block to your project. To make a block you click on the bottom right to give you one block that replaces everything else.

Reflection on debugging

In order to successfully debug it you have to determine what block will fix the problem. In most scenarios blocks are missing and have to be added in order to complete an action. My advice for debugging would be to troubleshoot because experimenting with the blocks is the best way to solve the issue. Debug 1.1 to 1.5

Debug 1.1 Debug 1.1 was very easy because all you had to do was put a green flag above the gobo. Debug 1.2 Debug 1.2 you had to add another glide that goes in the opposite direction. Debug 1.3 IN Debug 1.3 you had to add an opposite turn that goes 90 degrees and that will cause the cat to flip. Debug 1.4 You have to set the rotation style left to right in order to make the cat pace back and forth. Debug 1.5 For this one you have to put play sound and an meow meow in the repeat bracket. Play sound goes on the top and meow meow goes below.

10 Block Challenge

This activity made me more familiar with the commands that you can use. The 10 block restraint makes it more difficult because you have to use the ten commands and you can't add any extra commands. I was able to complete the project even though there was a 10 block restriction.

Day 1: Scratch

I was surprised by all the options you could use for your scratch project in the tutorial. I felt the step by step tutorial did a good job explaining how to use scratch. I liked having structure for this because without it I wouldn't have been able to figure out this new website. I like to have more freedom once we learn how to use scratch more often. I feel creative when I am able to have less structure and more freedom.

<p><align=center><font color="red">The Bruins tied up the series last night at <span style= “background-color: #FFFF00?>3-3.</span> Matt Fraser from Providence scored the goal in overtime. It’s amazing that a rookie like him scored.
I think he has good potential if he can score when most of the veteran players couldn’t. Tuukka Rask was also amazing last night making 33 saves.
The series is coming back to Boston giving the Bruins the home field advantage. They might have a shot at the cup now that the series is at home in Boston.</p>

<h2>Saturday’s Win</h2>

<p><align=center><font color="red">On Saturday the Bruins lead the series by one point against the Canadiens. The score ended up being 4-2 Bruins during this game which was at the Garden.
Tuukka Rask made 29 saves during this game. They scored during their power play and Soderberg got three assists as a rookie.
The Bruins play again on Monday in Montreal, hopefully they will win and the Canadiens will be eliminated from the playoffs.</p>

<h3>Monday's Big Loss</h3>

<p><align=center><font color="red">Monday night's game was a big loss for the Bruins and the score was <span style= “background-color: #FFFF00?>0 to 4</span>. The Bruins weren't able to score the whole game.
This was very disappointing because I would have liked to see the Canadiens lose the series and the Bruins move on. They better not play this bad on Wednesday and lose the series. Hopefully they will win
in game 7 on Wednesday.</p>

<h4>Game 7 Prediction</h4>

<p><align=center><font color="red">Tonight's game is the game that will determine whether or not the Bruins will stay or go home.
I hope they win this game and advance closer to the Stanley Cup. I think they have the skills they need in order to win. They're going against a team that is highly skilled.
They will have to play hard in order to win against this team. The Habs will go home to Montreal if the Bruins play hard tonight.</p>

<h5>Last Night's Huge Disappointment</h5>

<p><align=center><font color="red">Last night's game was a huge disappointment because the Bruins lost and they are now out of the series.
The puck bounced off Charas skate and went into the net. They didn't play a good game last night against the Canadiens.
Hopefully the Canadiens will lose when they go against the New York Rangers.</P>

<h6>Rangers Dominate The Canadiens</h6>

<p><align=center><font color="red">The New York Rangers dominated the Canadiens on Saturday at Montreal. The score was 7-2 Rangers. They are leading the series so far by one point.
They play them again tonight at Montreal. I hope it becomes a sweep and the Rangers win all 4 games in a row.

Computer Apps is a great class for learning new things about Computer science. Such as HTML.
